Council Circular 2022-08-17
Please be advised that circular 2022-08-27 dated 27th July 2022 re Transport, Retail and General Workers Union (THORN) is hereby withdrawn.
On 11th August 2022, the labour Court granted an order, suspending the decision of the Registrar Dept of Labour for the de- registration of the trade Union, pending an appeal.
In view of the Court order, all employers in the Contract Cleaning Services Industry throughout KZN are hereby advised that the status quo of the trade union THORN prior to the de-registration shall be maintained.
In pursuance the trade Union will continue as a party to the Council (BCCCI) and will furthermore continue enjoying automatic organisational rights including stop order deductions by employers on behalf of all its members.
The Council will keep you appraised of the outcome of the appeal to the Registrar of the Department of Labour Relations and status of the union once received.
